The Spotted Turtle is a small freshwater turtle that can be found across the Chesapeake Bay watershed. They are very sensitive to pollution, which makes them endangered or threatened in many states. However, female spotted turtles can live up to 110 years old! This one is surrounded by star grass (a Virginia native wildflower) to match the tiny constellation on its shell.
