This Calendar features 12 gouache paintings of species native (or naturalized, in the case of the snowdrop) to the Eastern United States. They were inspired by the artist's home state of Virginia, but many of them can be spotted from Pennsylvania all the way down to Florida!
Each animal & plant pairing pays homage to the season when they are blooming, fruiting, or wintering (with some artistic wiggle room). Unlike invasive species, natives are well adapted to their environments and support healthy, diverse ecosystems. Planting natives is good for the soil, the pollinators, and the air we breathe.
